Poland Union Elementary boys traded pencils and papers for hammers and screwdrivers for a "Boys' Night Out," which featured building a birdhouse rain gauge and other crafts with their special guests. Above, Bill Custer helps his son Luke, 8, a third-grader, work on a birdhouse with their friend Mitch Liele, 8, left, also a third-grader. At right, Jon Seitz, left, Jacob Wolfe and Jed Lankitus admire Jed's rain gauge, as they wait in line for a "certificate of completion" from a Home Depot representative, on hand to make sure all went smoothly. After the hard work was done, it was off to the cafeteria for pizza, pop and cookies.
