Luncheon is planned to honor Mr. and Mrs. John Smrecansky
XYOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. John Smrecansky of 2500 Arrowae Drive will be honored Feb. 23 at a luncheon at the Olive Garden in Boardman to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Invitations for the event will be extended by the couple's children, Ken Smrecansky of Mobile, Ala., and Rosann Rubosky of Canfield.
The Smrecanskys received an apostolic blessing in recognition of their anniversary. They plan to further celebrate the occasion on a trip in March to visit relatives in Las Vegas.
Mr. Smrecansky and the former Rose Cua were married Feb. 7, 1953, at St. Lucy Church in Campbell. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and retired in 1990 from the Ohio State Patrol, where he was a supervisor at the Driver's License Examination Station. He also worked at General Fireproofing for 30 years.
His wife was a caseworker with the Department of Human Resources until retiring in 1984. She belongs to Gold Torch Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.
The couple are members of St. Matthias Church. Two grandchildren complete their family.
