Jacksons feted at party marking golden jubilee
XPOLAND -- Mr. and Mrs. Jim A. Jackson, 2571 Coblentz Drive, were honored Dec. 28 at a celebration at Johnny's Restaurant in Youngstown in observance of their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the event were the couple's children and their spouses, Jim and Shelley Jackson of Houston; Steve and Robin Jackson of Huntsville, Ala.; Joe and Kathy Jackson of Fairborn; Pat and Dayna Jackson of The Hague, Netherlands; Chris and Lori Jackson of Madisonville, Ky.; and Fran and Denis Meinert of Pittsburgh. Their 17 grandchildren also attended.
A reception was held the following day at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens, where the couple renewed their marriage vows. The family departed Dec. 30 for a three-day ski trip to Seven Springs, Pa., to complete the celebration.
Mr. Jackson and the former Mary Frances Bell were married April 18, 1953, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II. He retired after 35 years with Kaiser Aluminum & amp; Chemical Co. in various locations and was then employed at National Refractories in Columbiana until retiring in 1989.
His wife attended the University of Chattanooga and was employed at the DuPont Co. in Chattanooga prior to her marriage. In later years she worked in the trust department of Mahoning National Bank.
