Have a slice or two on YSU

Published: Sun, February 9, 2003 @ 12:00 a.m.

Above, Principal Sandy Kelly of West Elementary School, Youngstown, hands a piece of pizza to 10-year-old Tammy Wood, a fourth-grader. Youngstown State University's mascot, Pete the Penguin, stopped by earlier this week and brought 77 pizzas with him. The treat was a reward for the West Side school being selected as one of the winners of YSU's holiday tree-decorating contest. Below, Tammy enjoys the fruit of her efforts. At right, Chelsea Moritz, 11, a fifth-grader, gives a big hug to Pete for his generosity.
