Woman files a wrongful death lawsuit

WARREN -- The executor of the estate of a 39-year-old woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against two local doctors and Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Attys. Martin White and S. Peter Voudouris, filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on behalf of Mary L. Christopher, who is handling the estate of Vona D. Brown. The suit has been assigned to Judge John Stuard.
Dr. Mohammad Rashid and Dr. Ben P. Lazaro Jr., both of Warren, are named as defendants. Dr. Rashid could not be reached to comment, and Dr. Lazaro declined to comment.
The suit says Brown went to TMH on April 24, 2002, for an elective surgical procedure known as a gastric bypass. White said the surgery is designed to help people lose weight by making the stomach smaller.
The suit states that the defendants failed to provide Brown with adequate medical and nursing care and as a result, Brown died four days later.
The suit does not ask for a specific monetary amount, but it asks the court for a judgment that would be adequate to compensate Brown's family.
