NILES -- William E. Phillips Sr., chairman and chief executive of Niles Expanded Metals, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Haller Enterprise Institute of Thiel College in Greenville, Pa. Phillips earned his bachelor's degree from Thiel College and did graduate work at Westminster College. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as a security administrator. His company was founded in 1959 and manufactures a full line of expanded metals, plastics and gratings for domestic and export use. The Haller Enterprise Institute encourages and nurtures students whose career goal is to become an entrepreneur. MERCER, Pa. -- Joe Muscarella, owner of Jetta Products of Pulaski, has been awarded the 2002 Associate of the Year honor by the Mercer County Builders Association. The award is presented to association members who make exceptional commitment to the home building industry and the local association. Muscarella's business specializes in bath and kitchen designs. He is president-elect of the Lawrence County Builders Association.CLEVELAND -- Ohio Business Magazine included two Mahoning Valley companies in its first ranking of the top 200 performing companies in Ohio. Stoneridge Inc., based in Warren, was ranked No. 85 among the top 100 public companies, and WCI Steel in Warren was listed as No. 24 among the top 100 privately held companies. Rankings were based on revenue.POLAND -- Jennifer L. Miligi, an employee at Ankle and Foot Care Centers in Poland, has qualified as a Certified Medical Assistant. She completed the medical assisting program at Trumbull Career and Technical Center in Warren and passed certification examinations administered by the American Association of Medical Assistants.YOUNGSTOWN -- Cambridge Home Health Care, an Akron-based company which has two offices in the Mahoning Valley, was a recipient of the NorthCoast 99 Award recognizing the 99 best companies to work for in Northeast Ohio. The company has received the award in each of the four years it has been given by the Employers Resource Council.NILES -- Deborah I. Lavell of Niles has completed courses and testing to earn the Certified Senior Advisor designation from the Denver, Colo.-based Society of Certified Senior Advisors.
