Police seek driver impersonating officer

Published: Sat, September 28, 2002 @ 12:00 a.m.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Neshannock Township police are looking for a man who impersonated a police officer and stopped a car on Glenn Road in the township.

Police said a 27-year-old New Wilmington woman was driving through the township on Glenn Road around 12:10 a.m. Thursday when the driver of a vehicle behind her activated a blue flashing light on its roof and trained a spotlight on her car.

She stopped and saw the driver of the other car step out of his vehicle. He shouted at her to step out of her car but she told police she couldn't get a good look at the man nor could she tell if he was wearing a uniform.

She said she became frightened and drove away. The man didn't follow her, and she called police.

The only description she could give of the man is that he had scraggly dark hair and was driving a police-type vehicle, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria.
