Police recover pills taken in burglary

Published: Thu, September 26, 2002 @ 12:00 a.m.

STRUTHERS -- Police recovered a bag of stolen pills after an employee of the Family Dollar Store, 444 Youngstown-Poland Road, found the medications on top of a garbage bin.

According to police reports, the worker deposited trash in the bin about 10 a.m. Monday.

Six hours later, the same worker found a McDonald's bag containing several prescription pill bottles and plastic sandwich bags containing a wide variety of pills on the bin when he went to dispose of more trash.

Most of the medications were unidentified, and several appeared to be herbal supplements.

Police traced the owner through the drugstore where one of the prescriptions was filled and discovered that the pills had been stolen from a home in Canfield during a burglary Monday morning.

Videotapes that record activity at the rear of the store were also taken into evidence and turned over to detectives in the Canfield Police Department who are investigating the robbery.
