GREENVILLE, PA. 5 to get awards at Thiel

The celebration begins with a golf scramble and ends with a memorial service.
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College will present alumni and service awards to five people as the college kicks off its annual homecoming activities Friday.
Distinguished Alumni Award honors will be presented to Charles R. Cunningham Jr. of the Class of 1967 and James H. Cunningham III of the Class of 1977.
Dr. Ruth Ann Armitage Fraser of the Class of 1993 will get the Young Alumnus Award while the Service to Thiel Award will go to Dr. Robert C. Olson, Class of 1960, and Jeanne Miller Blackson ,former director of food services at the college.
All five will be honored during the Alumni Awards Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. in the Miller Student Center.
Charles Cunningham is the retired director of Delphi Packard Electric Systems, North American Operations, and served on Thiel's board of trustees.
James Cunningham is station manager for WQED-FM and earned the Young Alumnus Award in 1990.
Fraser is an assistant chemistry professor at Eastern Michigan University.
Olson, Thiel's vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, has served on numerous college committees and as advisor to various student organizations. He earned the Thiel College President's Award for Teaching Excellence in 1996.
Blackson worked at Thiel from 1961 to her retirement in 1994. The Jeanne Blackson Refectory in the Miller Student Center dining hall is named in her honor.
