Career and job search author Tom Jackson gives these five "guerrilla tactics" for people who want to take a proactive approach to their job search:

Have a clear job target. The target should combine the job seeker's skills, interests and values.Uncover the hidden job market. The author says 80 percent of available jobs are not advertised.Remember the universal hiring rule: Any employer will hire any individual if he is convinced the decision will bring more value than it costs.Get an interview. Find out who makes the hiring decisions, and don't be discouraged by refusals.Make more money, have more fun. Be a pro at what you do, and learn to negotiate the salary you deserve.
