ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOWS

XSt. Benedict's Auxiliary of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church will sponsor its 10th annual craft show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 at the school auditorium, East Market and Belvedere, N.E., Warren. Spaces are available for a $20 rental fee, and tables will be furnished. No flea-market tables will be accepted; only hand-crafted items. For table space contact Elaine Vislosky, (330) 637-2797. Refreshments including holupki, halushki, pirogi, pizza and hot dogs will be offered.

AUCTIONS

XGreater Youngstown Point will hold an auction and sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmont Ave., as a benefit for the homeless.

FAIRS

XChrist Church Presbyterian, 1933 Canfield Road, will hold a pumpkin fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The outdoor market will feature pumpkins, apples, cider, mums, home-baked goods, jellies and candies, and there will be a petting zoo, games a flea market and Chinese auction. Light refreshments will be available all day at the Solid Rock Cafe and an open pit chicken dinner will be served from noon to 6 p.m. Dinners are $7.

FESTIVALS

XSt. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will be the site of the St. Joseph Society's second annual Octoberfest and St. Joseph the Provider School Home and School Association's craft show from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Chicken dinners also will be available for which tickets are $5.50 and may be obtained by calling (330) 755-0266.

XA harvest festival will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 at Shiloh Full Gospel Church, 1310 Shannon Road, Girard. There will be concessions, games and food. A limited number of craft tables may be rented for $15 each. For more information call (330) 544-3721.

FUND-RAISERS

XGirard Historical Society is taking orders for a variety of bulbs to be planted now for spring blooming. Bulbs can be ordered at $5 per package by calling Jane Harris at (330) 545-3893 from now through Oct. 15. Available are nine daffodil bulbs, eight tulip bulbs, 18 bluebells, three tiger lilies, 18 Dutch iris, as well as other varieties. Profits will go to the renovation of the Barnhisel House.

XMahoning Valley American Cancer Society will kick off breast cancer awareness month with a Pink Ribbon Gala Sept. 28 at Tippecanoe Country Club, Canfield. Featured will be hors d'oeuvres and cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 followed by a silent auction and music. Tickets are $125 each or $1,000 for table of eight. XSCORE, Service Corps of Retired Executives, will sponsor an "Evening at the Cabaret," an evening of music, song, dance and food, Oct. 6 at the Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. The social time will be at 6:30 p.m. and the program at 7. The cost is $15 and reservations are required. There will be a cash bar. XA Chinese auction is planned at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Saxon Ladies Society, Branch 22, at the Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, to benefit the scholarship fund. Donation is $3.

SALES

XCanfield Junior Women's League will sponsor the 33rd annual Fall Market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on the Canfield Village Green, Routes 46 and 224. Admission is free, and refreshments and concessions will be available. Craft vendors may inquire about space by calling (330) 549-9212.

XSt. Elizabeth Health Center Auxiliary will sell women's apparel, watches and purses from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the private dining rooms on the second floor of the center, 1044 Belmont Ave. Proceeds benefit the guest house.

TRIPS

XSts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 185 Laird Ave., Warren, will sponsor a trip Nov. 12 and 13 to see "The Miracle of Christmas" at Sight and Sound Theater, Lancaster, Pa. There will be a stop at Hershey Chocolate World, mystery stop in Pennsylvania, lunch at Seven Springs Resort and tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Kauffman estate. The cost is $160 and includes two meals. The bus leaves at 7 a.m. For reservations call (330) 369-4286.
