Timken drops 15-8 decision
CANTON -- East Canton High got a safety when Canton Timken's punter ran out of the end zone late in the third quarter, as the Hornets came from behind to trim the Trojans 15-8 Saturday at Fawcett Stadium.
The two points put the Hornets (3-1) out in front 9-8. Moments later Joe Stocker plunged a yard to give East Canton that 15-8 margin heading into the fourth period and that's the way the contest ended.
Mickey McCauley of the Hornets recovered a fumble at the Timken 44-yard line in the first quarter.
After East Canton quarterback Kyle Arick was sacked for a 13-yard loss, Arick connected with Jake Jacobsen on a 35-yard pass play for a first down at the Trojans' 22.
Arick then raced 14-yards for a touchdown and Matt Boyle made a place kick for the extra point and the Hornets held a 7-0 lead with 44 seconds remaining in the period.
Midway through the second period, David Brunner scooped up a East Canton fumble and raced 18 yards for a TD and Jesse James ran over a two-point conversion giving the Trojans (1-3) at 8-7 lead with 6 minutes, 40 seconds remaining in the first half.
