Covenant celebration
CANTON -- The Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will celebrate the Lutheran-Catholic Covenant signed in October of 2000. Registration will be at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Walsh University David Campus Center and will continue with presentations by Lutheran Bishop Marcus Miller and Catholic Bishop Thomas J. Tobin, and individuals involved in successful local Lutheran-Catholic partnerships for prayer, study, and action.
A discussion of ideas for the local implementation of the plan prepared by the Covenant Commission will follow these presentations. A buffet supper will be available for $6 and an evening prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Advance registration is required. Prepayment must accompany the registration of those who sign up for supper. Baptist pastors council
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Baptist Pastors Council of Youngstown and Vicinity will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Parkcliffe Ave. The Rev. Lewis W. Macklin II is president. The purpose of the council is to promote fellowship and unity among colleagues while working to improve civic, social, economic and spiritual conditions in the Mahoning Valley.

Revival services set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Revival services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Cornerstone Chapel with missionary and evangelist Andre VanZyl. He's the founder and director of "Good News to the Nations" in South Africa.
Healing service
YOUNGSTOWN -- Christ Church Presbyterian will have a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday for physical, spiritual, emotional and relational healing. Time will be allowed for personal ministry.
Vocalists to perform
WARREN -- The Ambassadors from Des Moines, Iowa, will perform during the entire service at 10 a.m. Sept. 15 at Central Christian Church. The five-man group has been performing for 25 years.
Programs offered
GIRARD -- Girard First United Methodist Church will offer an Alpha Course beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday. The 10-week practical introduction to the Christian faith offers answers to key questions.
A three-part series of messages will be at 10:45 a.m. Sunday and Sept. 22 and 29, "Surviving the Stress in Your Life!" which will focus on how to reduce and eliminate stress. Call (330) 545-4361.
Fall youth program
NILES -- The Niles-Girard Lutheran Churches open their "Faith Night" Program with an old-fashioned hot dog roast from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church for kindergarten through grade 12. The Christian education program will have crafts and activities that will continue each week through Dec. 15. Adult Christian education will also be offered. A free-will offering will be taken.
Pastors to speak
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Living Word Christian Center will have services at 10 a.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday with guests Les and Sheila Bowling. They are the senior pastors of Eagle Rock Ministries and the founders and overseers of Eagle Rock Apostolic Network. They help give oversight to churches in the Midwest as well as Russian immigrant congregations in Sacramento and Portland.
Revival services
YOUNGSTOWN -- The North Ohio Conference of the AME Church will have revival services at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Reed's Chapel AME Church. The speaker Wednesday and Thursday will be the Rev. Gerald Cooper, pastor of St. James AME Church in Cleveland. The speaker Friday will be the Rev. Otis Gordon of Grace AME Church in Warren.
