Man faces charges of raping girl, 11

Published: Fri, September 13, 2002 @ 12:00 a.m.

HUBBARD -- A Youngstown man was arrested at his home after indictment on 15 counts of rape and five counts of gross sexual imposition involving an 11-year-old girl, police said.

Hervey H. Dunn, 42, of Sunshine Street, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Thursday by members of the Hubbard city and township police departments and the Mahoning County Violent Crimes Task Force, said Hubbard Detective Robert Altiere.

A Trumbull County grand jury handed up a secret indictment against Dunn on the charges Wednesday.

Police began investigating allegations in July that Dunn, a friend of the girl's family, had improper contact with the girl. Each of the charges represents a separate act involving the same girl, Altiere said.

Dunn, being held in the Trumbull County Jail, was to be arraigned today in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
