As part of Youngstown State University's commemoration of the terrorist attacks, students were asked to write their thoughts on a 3-foot-by-7-foot sheet of paper hanging near the university's new Sept. 11 memorial. A sampling:
U "It was the end of my generation's innocence."
U "God gives the strongest of tests to the strongest of wills. Stay strong America."
U "America the Beautiful. Our alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears."
U "One year later and we still stand united. We are stronger now than ever."
U "Always in our hearts and never forgotten."
U "Why can't we all just get along?"
U "No one can forget that day, but we also can't dwell on it. We will live on."
U"The middle word of life is 'if.' If we live another day, it is always a gift. I feel even more thankful today than I do sad."
U "Peace at all cost."
