HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL Girard wins three, pads skein to nine

The Indians defeated Canfield, Springfield and Lisbon to continue undefeated.

GIRARD -- The Girard High School volleyball team won matches against Canfield, Springfield and Lisbon to stretch the indians' unbeaten streak to nine.

Girard defeated Canfield, 15-6, 15-2; Springfield Local, 15-2, 15-3; and Lisbon 15-4, 15-5.

In the win over Canfield, Brittany Kay scored 12 points while Tealle Hunkus had 17 kills.

Stephanie Jarvis led the Cardinals with seven kills.

In the win over Springfield, Hunkus collected 11 points, eight aces, 15 kills and six blocks while Stephanie Scarnecchia was in with four kills and six digs.

The Tigers were led by Megan Louttit with eight assists.

Scarnecchia came up with two aces, four kills and five digs while Hunkus added 15 kills and three blocks to lead the Indians over Lisbon.

The Blue Devils were led by Ashley Law with four kills and a block.

Springfield Local 15-15,

Lisbon 2-3

GIRARD -- Carrie Davis had 10 points and Heather Snyder had six digs for the Tigers (6-3).

Lisbon was ignited by Stephanie Smith with two kills and two digs.

Canfield 16-15, Lisbon 14-5

GIRARD -- Jill Vertanen led the way with 13 points, three aces, six kills and four blocks while Jarvis had eight kills and three blocks for the Cardinals (4-2).

Megan Rose had 10 assists and four digs for Lisbon.

Boardman 15-15, West Branch 5-7

BOARDMAN -- Lauren Craig led the Spartans (5-1) with seven kills and five blocks. Jaclyn Corroto scored eight points, with 14 assists. Jen Feret had eight kills and five digs.

Amber Metzger led the Warriors (6-1) with five points and eight assists. Jen Weingart had eight kills.

Fitch 15-15, Holy Name 12-6

AUSTINTOWN -- Maggie Case collected nine points, six kills, two blocks, three aces and five digs for the undefeated Falcons (4-0).

Jenn Drabison added six points and six blocks while Katie McDermott was in with five points, six kills, five blocks, an ace and five digs. Rachel Terzek had five points, two kills and a pair of digs.

Seton 15-15, Fitch 8-9

ROCKY RIVER -- Maggie Case led the Falcons with nine kills, two blocks and nine digs in the loss to Seton at the Magnificat Invitational. Stacie Mang had 15 assists.

Crestview 15-3-15, LaBrae 6-15-7

COLUMBIANA -- Abby Fristick scored 12 points, with three aces and six kills for the Rebels. Kate Kesner scored 11 points, with five aces, two kills and a block. Kelly Simmons had six kills. Lindsay Sapp had 22 assists.

Amanda Gordon paced the Vikings (2-2) with 10 points, eight kills and eight kills. Rachel Higgins had seven digs and Amber Detelbach had 14 assists.

Crestview 15-15, Wellsville 4-3

COLUMBIANA -- Fristik sparked the Rebels (7-1) with 11 points, an ace and six kills. Simmons had five kills. Sapp scored 11 points and had 16 assists.

Ashley Lombardozi led the Tigers (3-1) with three points and Katie Stanley had two kills.

Wellsville 15-11-15, Jackson-Milton 8-15-3

COLUMBIANA -- Ashley Loutzenhiser pace the Bluejays (1-2) with seven kills, five blocks, five digs, six points and an ace. Erika Stamm had eight points, 18 assists, two kills and an ace.
