GIRLS SOCCER Boardman rallies to get past Niles, 2-0; Fitch ties GlenOak

Three different players scored goals to help Canfield win 5-0 over Lakeview.

BOARDMAN -- After a scoreless first half, senior Janeen Masternick and junior Lauren Callahan scored Saturday as the Boardman High girls soccer team defeated Niles, 2-0.

Masternick's goal came 15 minutes into the second half with an assist from senior Pam Prystash.

A minute later, Callahan scored for the Spartans (2-2) with an assist from junior Sarah Grabert.

Boardman goalie Liz Agnew had 10 saves while Niles' Emily Pahon and Stephanie Parish had five saves apiece for the Red Dragons.

Boardman plays at Uniontown Lake on Monday.

Canfield 5, Lakeview 0

CANFIELD -- Kelly Williams scored two goals while Amy Damico, Mandy Ruse and Kiki Rutkousky each had a score for the Cardinals (4-1-1).

Abby Ferko, Kathryn Fehr and Kelly Zavoral each had an assist. Canfield led 2-0 at the half and tried more shots, 30-9.

GlenOak 1, Fitch 1

NORTH CANTON -- Freshman Dina Harris scored for Fitch (3-0-2) with 3:49 to go in the first half and Abbie Sullivan scored with 6:20 remaining in the game for GlenOak (2-1-2).

Senior goalie Alison Chasko had seven saves for Fitch while Courtney McBride had 11 saves for GlenOak.

Fitch had the shots-on-goal advantage, 24-10.

Warren JFK 4, Maplewood 0

WARREN -- Allie Hazboun scored three goals for the Eagles (1-2-1). Lexie Polivka scored the other goal on an assist by Abbey Ross. Polivka also assisted on one of Hazboun's goals.

Maplewood is 0-4-0.

Champion 4, West Branch 1

CHAMPION -- Sophomore Jenna Lee had two goals while senior Jamie Granata and sophomore Carlie Dawson had one goal apiece for the Golden Flashes (4-1). Dawson had one assist and sophomore Danielle Bafunno had two assists.Anina Beegle scored for West Branch (0-4). Champion's senior goalie, Liz Wood, and West Branch goalie Carile Poffenberger had eight saves apiece.
