PITTSBURGH -- Traffic on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Allegheny River will be stopped periodically Saturday so crews can erect steel beams for a bridge over the turnpike.
Four stoppages are scheduled. None will exceed 30 minutes.
The first two stoppages, at about 10 a.m. and 10 to 90 minutes later, will affect only westbound traffic.
The two other stoppages will occur late Saturday, the first at about 10 p.m., and will affect traffic in both directions.
Single-lane restrictions also will be required Saturday and Sunday and during the coming week, Monday through Sept. 13. All weekday lane closures will occur between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The construction site is Milepost 48.7, one mile east of Exit 5, the turnpike's Allegheny Valley interchange with Pa. Route 28.
