Threat reported

AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a report that a South Roanoke Avenue teen threatened to beat another boy with a wooden object Tuesday evening.

Officers said they later found a wooden ax handle when they searched one of the South Roanoke Avenue boy's friends.

A 15-year-old Marcia Drive boy told police that the South Roanoke Avenue boy, also 15, approached him while he was riding his bicycle at about 7 p.m. on Aldrich Drive and threatened to beat him with a bat.

The South Roanoke Avenue teen then lifted up his shirt to show that he had a wooden object in his waistband, the Marcia Drive boy said.

The South Roanoke Avenue boy also threatened to shoot the Marcia Drive boy and reached toward his back pocket as if he were carrying a gun, police reports say. The Marcia Drive teen rode away.

Police later searched the South Roanoke Avenue teen and one of his friends, 17, of Aldrich Drive. The ax handle was found in the Aldrich Drive teen's waistband.
