Police probe man's death

Someone broke into the Hillsdale N.W. home through a rear window.
WARREN -- Police are investigating the early-morning shooting death of a 66-year-old man.
Police Chief John Mandopoulos said Harvey Hill of 596 Hillsdale N.W. was shot by someone who broke into his home.
Police arrived about 12:30 a.m. and found Hill, who was taken by ambulance to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He died in the emergency room.
Police used a police dog to search for a man seen fleeing Hill's home. Police officers from Warren Township and Howland also assisted.
Police declined to say how many times Hill was shot or if they think the intruder was attempting to rob the house.
They are not sure of the exact time Hill was shot.
"Right now things are still being looked at," Mandopoulos said. "We have no one in custody, but we think we may have a suspect."
Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, the county's forensic pathologist, was scheduled to perform an autopsy today, police said.
According to reports, someone entered Hill's home through a rear window. Police do not know if anything was taken.
Mandopoulos said this is the first homicide in the Hillsdale area.
"It's a tiny street and we get calls in that area, but nothing like this," the chief said. "Most of the calls we get there deal with loud music and kids playing in the street."
This is the city's third homicide of the year.
