Residents should be recertified to receive food.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The next distribution of free food to low-income Lawrence County residents will be Sept. 6.
Each recipient will receive a $15 voucher and various other items.
All township and borough residents should be recertified by this time to be eligible for food distribution.
For this distribution only, municipalities will receive just enough food for the families that received food the last time.
Those who recertified will receive food first. Those who did not recertify will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
For the remaining distributions, recipients must be certified. All city residents must have a yellow card to receive food and a voucher. Pink cards are no longer valid.
New cards will be issued through Thursday at the county commissioners' office with proof of income for everyone in the household.
Food will be distributed from 10 a.m.-noon in the following communities in municipal buildings unless otherwise noted:
Bessemer, Ellport, Ellwood City at St. Agatha Church, South New Castle Borough, Little Beaver Township/Enon Valley at the township building, Mahoning Township community center, Neshannock Township, Pulaski Township, Shenango Township fire station, Slippery Rock Township, Union Township, Wilmington Township.
Pickup will be from 9-11 a.m. at the following: New Beaver Borough, Perry Township, Scott Township fire hall, Taylor Township fire hall and Wayne Township.
New Castle residents can pick up their food from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Armory on Frank Avenue.
Food can be picked up from 9:30-11 a.m. at the following:
Wampum Borough fire hall and North Beaver. Pickup will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Hickory Township fire station and 9-10:30 a.m. at the community building on Washington Road for Washington Township, Volant and Plain Grove.
