WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA Sharon drops 15-12 decision to Duquesne in season debut

Western Beaver reeled off 34 points to defeat Sharpsville in the season opener.
DUQUESNE -- Windell Brown carried 13 times for 59 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 36 yards and a touchdown, as Duquesne defeated visiting Sharon 15-12 Saturday in the season opener for both teams.
Marcus Smith had 74 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown for Sharon.
Mike Bochert added two catches for 53 yards and a touchdown and T.J. Burk was 3-for-8 passing for 53 yards.
Each team picked up seven first downs.
Sharon rushed for 136 yards while limiting Duquesne to just 65. Each team lost a fumble.
The Tigers were penalized six times for 50 yards while the Dukes were called for eight penalties for 65 yards.
Western Beaver 34, Sharpsville 10: BEAVER, Pa. -- The Blue Devils scored first on a 34-yard field goal but then Western Beaver reeled off the next 34 straight points in the season opener for each.
Taylor ran 19 times for 125 yards and a pair of 11-yard touchdowns to make it 21-3 at the half.
Sharpsville had fewer first downs, 19-6, less rushing yards, 259-93, was out-gained through the air, 80-0, and lost two fumbles.
