Trash removal delayed

WARREN -- Trash removal for city residents will be delayed one day Monday because of Labor Day.

Monday's pickups will be Tuesday, and each day after that will be one day later than usual.

Valley safety forcesto be honored at mall

NILES -- The Trumbull County Chiefs Association, Trumbull County Firefighters Association and the Mahoning Valley Police Chiefs Association are sponsoring a two-day event at Eastwood Mall on Saturday and next Sunday honoring the safety forces of the Mahoning Valley.

As part of the observance, displays will be set up by 12 safety service agencies and Bazetta Fire Department will show its Safety City display.

Ambulances, firetrucks, police vehicles and a medical helicopter will be stationed throughout the mall and its grounds, and Howland Fire Department will have its fire prevention and safety trailer in the parking lot outside Kaufmann's.

School board to meet

VIENNA -- Mathews Board of Education will have a special executive session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to review board member applications.

Mosquito spraying

HOWLAND -- The township's sixth spraying for mosquitoes this summer will be from 9 p.m. Sept. 9 to 5 a.m. Sept. 10. In case of rain, spraying will take place the following evening.

Residents are encouraged to close windows, keep pets indoors and not leave any food outside.

Ashtabula woman winsBuckeye 5 game

ASHTABULA -- Alma P. Senskey of Ashtabula has won $100,000 in the Ohio Lottery's Buckeye 5 game.

She bought her winning ticket for the Aug. 17 drawing at Convenient Food Mart at 1714 W. 19th St.

She chose the winning numbers: 21-24-27-31-33. She claimed her prize Tuesday at the lottery's regional office in Austintown.

TCTC adult classes

LORDSTOWN -- The Trumbull Career and Technical Center is offering personal enrichment classes for adults.

Beginning this month, the short-term classes include such subjects as antique identification, cake decorating, conversational Spanish, floral design, gourmet cooking, scrapbooking, sign language and yoga.

There also will be workshops on wedding coordination and color analysis.

Lake Vista program

CORTLAND -- Emily Varner, Trumbull County archivist, will address members of SCOPE Lake Vista about county records at the clubhouse at 10 a.m. Sept. 13.

Members will also share family stories. People are encouraged to bring finger food to share.
