Inspired to start a Red Hat Society of your own? Look no further than www.redhatsociety.com, which is where new chapters can register and send for their official certificate. In fact, it appears that other Youngstown groups are already beginning to organize. Here are some suggestions from the Web site:
UYou must be a woman of 50 or over (or not), and you must attend functions in full regalia (red hat, purple outfit for 50 and over, or pink hat and lavender outfit for younger).
UBuy a red hat for yourself and/or for someone else.
UInvite other women into your chapter. A new member might be invited to join with the gift of a red hat.
UEach member is responsible for her own purple outfit.
UPlan your first tea and go out in your ensembles. And have fun.

For a copy of "Warning: When I am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple" by Jenny Joseph and illustrated by Pythia Ashton-Jewell, visit Barnes & amp; Noble Booksellers in Boardman, which can special-order the book within about two weeks. It's also available from www.amazon.com.
And finally, for a red hat of your own, some members of Youngstown's Dazzling Dames of the Red Hat Society recommended Kaufman's. The Red Hat Society Web site also mentions antique stores, thrift stores and garage sales as good places to look for unusual hats. To buy a new hat from the Red Hat Society's Imperium, visit the Web site's boutique, or call (866) FUN-AT-50.
