Family holds anniversary celebration in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Popio

GIRARD -- Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Popio, Crumlin Avenue, were honored during a lamb and chicken roast held Aug. 3 in celebration of the their 50th wedding anniversary.

The event took place at the Girard home of a daughter and son-in-law, Madalyn and Michael Petro. Assisting with the party was another daughter, June Popio of Pittsburgh. A son, Thomas Popio, is deceased.

The former Norma Mendozzi and Mr. Popio were married Aug. 2, 1952, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown. They are members of St. Rose Church.

Mr. Popio served with the 42nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He retired in 1980 as an inspector with General Fireproofing, Youngstown, and is a member of Tod Park and St. Anthony bocce leagues.
