CDs, games and jewelry are stolen in burglaries at 2 homes

YOUNGSTOWN -- Burglars stole more than $5,000 worth of CDs plus DVD movies, video games and jewelry from two homes.
A Fairgreen Avenue man told police he discovered 1,000 CDs, valued at $5,000, three DVD movies and a $2,000 gold chain missing from his home around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
According to police reports, the 25-year-old man secured his residence around 3 a.m. Monday. He told police that he saw a man run from his back porch when he arrived home around 7 p.m.
When he awoke around 4 a.m. Tuesday, he discovered the lock on a second-floor window had been broken and the items missing.
An alarm at the home did not activate because there are no sensors on the second floor.
The same day, a 22-year-old woman discovered 100 CDs, a Nintendo 64 video-game system, two video-game controllers and an assortment of video games missing from her Tyrell Street apartment. A living room window had been pried open.
The woman told police she last saw her apartment intact around 2:30 p.m. Monday. She discovered the damage and items missing around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.
