VIENNA -- The Mineral Ridge High softball team scored all of its runs in the fifth inning as pitcher Ashley Ault tossed a two-hitter Saturday in a 4-1 victory over Mathews.

Katie Garland drove in two runs for Mineral Ridge (13-6, 7-5 Inter-County League) in its four-run fifth inning. Garland's two hits included a double.

Sarah Gerberry added three hits for the Rams while Katie Olive had two including a double. Kaili Gehring had two hits.

Ault (8-4) struck out seven batters and walked three. Mathews dropped to 8-7, 6-6.

Western Reserve 4-3, Columbiana 0-1: COLUMBIANA -- Pitching was the name of the game as Western Reserve's Tiffany Shugart fired a one-hitter in the nightcap while Katie Harmon tossed a three-hitter.

Shugart's (3-0) gem included eight strikeouts. She helped her own cause by hitting two singles, driving in a run and scoring once.

In the sixth inning, Stevie Goist doubled for Columbiana (14-6) to spoil Shugart's no-hit bid.

Harmon (4-0), a freshman, struck out six in the first game.

Kristen Kurth hit a pair of singles for the Blue Devils (15-4).
