Wreck kills one, injures two

DAMASCUS -- A Struthers woman was killed and two Youngstown-area women injured in a two-vehicle crash in Goshen Township.
The Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Doris Deiley, 78, of Poland Avenue, Struthers, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash at around 9:25 p.m. Thursday.
The patrol said Deiley was a rear-seat passenger in a car driven by Sandra Mehley, 56, of Moyer Avenue, Youngstown.
Mehley and a front-seat passenger, Dorothy McLaughlin, 78, of Maplewood Avenue, Struthers, were in stable condition this morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mehley was driving east on state Route 165 and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of state Route 14, the patrol said. She then drove into the intersection, striking a tractor-trailer driven by Daniel Barefoot, 39 of Alliance, the patrol said. Neither he nor a passenger, Delanie Barefoot, 35, of Alliance, were injured.
Barefoot was driving southeast on state Route 14, and Mehley's car struck the rig on the right rear passenger side, ejecting Deiley, the patrol said.
The patrol said McLaughlin and Mehley were wearing seat belts; Deiley was not.
The crash remains under investigation. No citations have been issued.
