BASEBALL ROUNDUP Kyle Buck throws no-hitter as West Branch wins 14th

He registered six strikeouts against Carrollton and gained his sixth win ..

CARROLLTON -- Kyle Buck fired a no-hitter lead West Branch High to a 6-2 baseball victory over Carrollton Thursday.

Carrollton took advantage of two errors to score two runs in the third.

Behind 2-1, the Warriors (14-5, 6-4 Northeastern Buckeye Conference) answered with a four-run surge in the fourth, the tallied another run in the fifth.

Buck (6-1) struck out nine and walked four.

Jim Christy hit a triple and two singles to place the Warriors. Drew Romigh singled and drove in two runs.

Fitch 6, Warren Harding 1: AUSTINTOWN -- Rick Vickers held Warren Harding to an unearned run on nine hits to improve to 2-1 in a Steel Valley Conference game.

Steve Burnich and Shawn Sutton each added two hits and an RBI for the Falcons (11-8, 5-2), who snapped a two-game losing skid.

Tyson Rowland and Mike Witherow each had two hits for Harding (9-14, 2-6).

Jackson-Milton 4, Lowellville 3: NORTH JACKSON -- Zack Kosa's double and Bill Corbett's single knocked in the game-winning runs as Jackson-Milton scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to notch the Inter-County League victory.

Kosa added a single to finish with two RBIs while James Cavanaugh had two singles. For Lowellville, Nick Pope and Dustin Socie each had two singles.

Western Reserve 9, Lordstown 1: LORDSTOWN -- Western Reserve pitcher Luke Srock won his first varsity game, holding Lordstown to one run on three hits.

Ben Martin had two hits and two runs and Jason Young added two hits and two RBIs for the Blue Devils (15-5.)

Girard 9, Liberty 3: GIRARD -- Behind 3-2, Girard rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to prevail.

Randy Mason hit two doubles and a single, drove in three runs and scored once for the Indians (12-3, 9-3 Trumbull Athletic Conference).

Shawn Petracca chipped in with a triple and two singles and scored once.

Elliott Steverson (2-2) worked six innings to pick up the win.

Tom Blackiston hit a home run for Liberty.

Columbiana 5, United 1: COLUMBIANA -- Junior Brett Seybert (5-3-1) scattered four hits, struck out 12 and walked one.

Dean Stokes of the Clippers (13-5, 11-2 Tri-County League) hit four singles, scored twice and stole a base.

Seybert went 2-for-3, scored once and drove in a run. In 462/3 innings this season, he has walked 15 and struck out 79.

Southeast 11, Garfield 1: GARRETTSVILLE -- Steve Dillon (5-0) worked five innings to pick up the win. Duane Kiley and Dillon paced the Pirates (13-3, 10-1 Portage County League) with three singles apiece.
