Austintown man admits taking items, police say

Published: Fri, May 3, 2002 @ 12:00 a.m.

AUSTINTOWN -- Police said an Edgehill Avenue man told them Thursday that he took several musical instruments, a pistol and an air compressor from a home he thought was abandoned on North Navarre Avenue.

A state Route 46 man said he previously lived in the home and was planning to move the items into his new residence.

The state Route 46 man's family found the Edgehill Avenue man leaving the North Navarre Avenue home Thursday. At first, he said he was at the wrong home. Police said he later told them that he was walking along North Navarre Avenue on Tuesday when he saw the door to the home open.

He took the items to a pawn shop, police said. They are investigating.
