Teenage boy arrested

CAMPBELL -- Police arrested a 16-year-old Summit Drive boy about 6:30 p.m. Sunday after they found a black handgun in the waist of his pants during a traffic stop.

According to reports, the boy was arrested in the first block of Eighth Street after police radar indicated the car he was driving was traveling at 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. The boy was also charged with resisting arrest, speeding and driving under suspension.

Underage driving

STRUTHERS -- Police charged Jeremiah J. Balluck, 20, of 90 Center Street, with child endangering after he allowed a 14-year-old girl to drive. A 6-year-old boy was also in the car.

The man told police he was teaching his girlfriend's daughter to drive when a patrolman followed the vehicle into the parking lot of Stanton's Market about 8:15 p.m. Friday. Police became suspicious when the car the girl was driving stopped at an intersection and failed to proceed even though there was no oncoming traffic and then pulled into the parking lot of a store that was closed.

Police charged the girl with operating a motor vehicle without a license.
