Ferraros feted at Mass, brunch on anniversary
LOWELLVILLE -- Mr. and Mrs. Joseph R. Ferraro of Lowellville were honored at a champagne brunch held July 14 at The Georgetown in Boardman in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the festivities were their children, Joe and Karen Simko and Garry and Kathy Bossinger, all of Poland, and the Rev. Pat B. Ferraro of Streetsboro. Also assisting were the couple's four grandchildren.
Prior to the reception the occasion was observed during a Mass concelebrated by the Revs. Ferraro, Gerald DeLucia and Phillip Rogers at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
The former Clara Polis (Pugliese) and Mr. Ferraro were married July 19, 1952, at St. Lawrence Church, Hillsville, Pa.
Mrs. Ferraro is a homemaker and community volunteer. She is president of the Ladies Mount Carmel Society and is active in the St. Elizabeth Junior Guild, Holy Rosary Ladies Guild and Lowellville Summer Recreation Program.
Mr. Ferraro served with the U.S. Army 4th Armored Division in the European Theater of Operations during World War II and was a first lieutenant with the CID during the Korean Conflict. He graduated in 1950 from Duquesne University and retired in 1984 from St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where he was director of material management. He belongs to the Youngstown Morra League, is a former member of American Legion Post 247, Knights of Columbus and the Wolves Club, and is past president of the Men's Mount Carmel Society and Holy Rosary Men's Club.
The couple are also members of Mount Carmel Bocce League and Lowellville Senior Citizens.
