AUSTINTOWN -- An outdoor setting has been chosen for the 23rd annual Log Cabin Day arts and crafts show to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday by Austintown Historical Society.
Dealers and craftsmen from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia will set up their displays in the handicapped-accessible woods at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. They will be offering such handmade items as apple garlands, folk art, jewelry, dried floral arrangements, wooden items, upholstered trunks, customized totes, vinegars, jams, stoneware, calligraphy and a wide variety of miscellaneous items.
In addition, the historical society will be selling items from the Cat's Meow collection such as the John H. Fitch Summer Home, Austin Log Cabin, Austintown Community Church, Fitch School, a one-room school house and Strock Stone house. The articles will be priced from $12 to $15.
Also to be sold will be historic Austintown afghans costing $45. The afghans will be available in cranberry red and cream, hunter green and cream, or Williamsburg blue and cream.
Food, cold beverages and baked goods will be available, and there will be a Chinese auction and a 50-50 raffle.
The cost is $1 per person with children under 12 to be admitted free. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Austintown Historical Society.
