COLUMBIANA -- Mr. and Mrs. Robert Corey of 55 Old Fourteen Road were honored June 27 at a surprise party at Pine Lake Pavilion in North Lima in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary.

Hosts for the event were the couple's children and their spouses, Robert Jr. and Betty Jane Corey of Canfield; Catherine and Lester McConville of Gainesville, Va.; Paul and Shwnnie Corey of Columbiana; Jay and Cheryl Corey of Morgantown, W.Va.; and Thomas and Cynthia Corey of Columbiana. Thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren complete their family.

Mr. Corey and the former Inez M. Hostetter were married June 27, 1952, at the United Methodist Church in Winchester, Va. He retired in April from his work as a licensed standardbred-horse trainer.

His wife retired in October 2001 from Nationwide Insurance in Youngstown, where she was an administrative assistant.

The couple are members of First United Methodist Church of Columbiana.
