Candidate changes address

WARREN -- Warren Davis, an independent candidate for the 17th Congressional District seat, has officially changed his address from Bay Village to an apartment on East Market Street in Akron.
Davis, a former longtime labor leader, said he plans to live in the apartment and work out of his Akron campaign office. He is not planning to sell his Bay Village home.
Davis sent a letter to the Trumbull County Board of Elections requesting his address be changed and that he be listed as an independent candidate on the November general election ballot. Both requests were honored by the elections board.
Ohio law permits congressional candidates to live anywhere in the state and run for any district position.
Bay Village is not in the 17th District, but East Akron is. The district includes portions of Mahoning, Trumbull, Portage and Summit counties.
Democrat Timothy J. Ryan lives in Niles, which is in the 17th District. Republican Ann Womer Benjamin of Aurora and U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. of Poland, another independent candidate, each live less than five miles from the 17th District.
