BURTON -- Runners and walkers are invited to the annual American Red Cross events at the Geauga County Fair.
The Red Cross will sponsor three activities offering something for family members of all ages over Labor Day weekend.
On Sept. 1, a five-mile run through the hills of Geauga County's Amish country begins at 8:30 a.m. It will be immediately followed by a one-mile walk through the fairgrounds.
Later that morning, the Children's Fun Run will be staged at the half-mile horse race track in front of the main grandstand.
All participants receive free entry to the fair and many prizes and giveaways are being offered.
Completed pre-registration forms, accompanied by the $12 fee, must be received at the Red Cross by Aug. 23.
Participants may also register on the day of the events beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Kent State University-Geauga campus, just north of the fairgrounds. The fee that day is $15.
All proceeds benefit the work of the Geauga unit of the American Red Cross.
Pre-registration forms are available at the secretary's office at the fairgrounds, 14373 N. Cheshire St. in Burton and at the Red Cross office at 105 N. Hambden St., Chardon.
Registration can also be done over the phone at (440) 285-4911 or (800) 788-8223.
