GIRARD -- The school district's interim superintendent and assistant high school principal are in the running to become superintendent.
Interim superintendent Marty Santillo and assistant principal Ronald Ragozine are among 15 candidates vying for the post.
The school board was to meet in executive session at 6 p.m. today to conduct a third evening of interviews.
Board member Jane Harris said the position will be filled after the July 4 holiday.
Santillo was named interim superintendent in May when Joseph Shoaf resigned after police searched his office May 10.
Shoaf was subsequently indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury on two counts of corrupting another with drugs and one count each of intimidating a victim, possession of cocaine and trafficking in cocaine.
The charges are based partially on a tape recording on which police say Shoaf and a 17-year-old female student used cocaine in his high school office.
Besides Santillo and Ragozine, the only local names on the list of applicants are those of Joseph Malmisur, principal of Jackson-Milton High School in Mahoning County, and Kevin Turner, former superintendent in Hubbard.
The list was prepared by the Trumbull County Education Services Center and turned over to the Girard school board.
The Vindicator requested a list of candidates for the job, including biographical information.
Mark Bello, district treasurer, provided a list of names.
When asked for additional information, Bello said the listing was what his was provided by the school board and he didn't know which board member had the r & eacute;sum & eacute;s.
Neither Santillo nor Jamie DeVore, board president, could be reached to get more information about the candidates.
In most cases, individual information is scant.
For example, Linda Clautti is identified as being associated with Jefferson Township.
A search of the Ohio Board of Education database determined Clautti is superintendent of Jefferson Township Local School District outside of Dayton in Montgomery County.
In another example, the board listed Clarence Crum as principal at Malvern High School. It doesn't indicate the location of the school, but the same search found that Malvern is part of the Brown Local School District, southeast of Canton in Carroll County.
