Campbell man faces charge in shooting that wounded teen
CAMPBELL -- A shooting this morning left an 18-year-old woman hospitalized.
Police said a 27-year-old Fitch Avenue man faces a felonious assault charge, accused of firing 15 rounds from an assault rifle at 1 a.m. today.
A shot was fired at a vehicle belonging to James J. Gane, 27, of Seventh Street while Gane and his girlfriend were inside. The girlfriend was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center after she was shot in the shoulder. Her name and condition were not made available this morning.
The suspect told police that he did not see the vehicle in the driveway, because it was dark. Police said alcohol was involved.
The suspect was standing in the yard of his home when the shots were fired, striking the vehicle, which was at a residence on First Street, police said.
He is in custody and scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday in Campbell Municipal Court.
