Tim Gallo namedequipment aide
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tim Gallo has been named assistant equipment manager at Youngstown State University.
Gallo will assist YSU equipment manager Carmine Cassese and will work with all 18 intercollegiate athletic teams.
He spend the last 10 years as an assistant manager at John Carroll and prior to that was the equipment manager at Marietta College. He is a 1990 graduate of Marietta.
St. Francis golfat Oak Tree
NEW CASTLE -- St. Francis Health Foundation of New Castle will host its golf tournament at Oak Tree Country Club, on July 29.
A shotgun start is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The 18-hole event will feature the four-person scramble format.
The entry fee of $225 includes 18 holes of golf, cart, greens fees, lunch buffet, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, dinner, awards, prizes and a gift.
Money raised by the golf tournament help to offset the cost of free care provided by St. Francis Hospital of New Castle.
Hubbard Old-Timersdefeat Springfield
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- The Hubbard Old-Timers overcame a six-run Springfield first inning to win 8-6 at Springfield High Sunday.
Winning pitcher Marty Kanetsky hit a bases-loaded double with two outs in the seventh to force extra innings.
Hubbard (7-1) scored twice in the eighth inning to send Springfield to a 3-6 record.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Express collegiate baseball team split a pair of doubleheaders over the weekend to extend their record to 8-7.
The Express defeated the Delaware Cows 5-3 as Dane Towery went the route but the Cows won the nightcap 2-1 despite two hits by Brad Schutz, one a double.
Northern Ohio beat the Express 8-2 in the opener but the Express took the nightcap for the split.
Matasek winsfour matches
PEPPER PIKE -- Stephanie Matasek won four matches at the Ohio Women's State Amateur Championshps held at The Country Club.
Matasek, who was MVP and captain of the YSU golf team, qualified with an 81 and lost her first match in 19 holes before coming back to win four matches to win the consolation flight.
Jenni Grossi, qualified with a 79, but lost her first two matches.
Both ladies are employed at Mill Creek golf course.

Women's Final Fourat RCA Dome in '05
INDIANAPOLIS -- The RCA Dome will be the site of the women's basketball Final Four in 2005.
It's the first time the RCA Dome, which has played host to the men's Final Four in 1991, 1997 and 2000, has been selected for the women's championship. The men's tournament returns to the RCA Dome in 2006.

NEW YORK -- America's Cup teams will return to Newport, R.I., this month for two important yacht racing tuneups.
The New York Yacht Club is set as official host of the UBS Challenge U.S. Championships July 27-29 and the Challenge Finals July 31-Aug. 4.
