Council action
City council's finance committee sent the following pieces of legislation to the full council meeting for consideration next Wednesday:
Authorizing the board of control to spend up to $25,000 for an engineering study and possible recommendations concerning safety improvements on the curve on Market Street between Garfield Street and Falls Avenue, where three people have died in traffic accidents in recent weeks.
Expressing council's support for the minority business apprenticeship program and directing the Community Development Agency to encumber $25,000 within the minority business assistance code to fund this initiative, directed toward enhancing minority participation in the $173 million city public schools construction project.
Allowing the board of control to sign a contract for services of three Mahoning County sheriff's deputies to provide anti-littering enforcement in the city to be paid for with $45,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds.
