YOUNGSTOWN -- Police have arrested a 23-year-old East Side man accused of a December beating during which a 26-year-old man suffered a broken jaw after being pistol-whipped.
Willie Green of Lansdowne Boulevard was arrested on a warrant accusing him of felonious assault in the beating of Derrick A. Tinsley.
He posted a $12,000 cash or surety bond and was released after his Wednesday arraignment before Judge Robert A. Douglas Jr. of Youngstown Municipal Court.
A witness told police that Tinsley's vehicle had been boxed in by two other vehicles on Victor Avenue near Buckeye Circle, police reports show. When Tinsley left his car, he was knocked to the ground and beaten in the face and head by four men who used rifles or shotguns to strike him.
Two assailants then returned Tinsley, 26, to the back seat of his vehicle. When the female witness attempted to jump into the vehicle's front seat, one of the assailants attempted to pull her out then entered the vehicle next to her and drove her and Tinsley to the hospital before fleeing on foot.
The witness told police some of the men involved had been at a birthday party in Austintown, where a fight had occurred.
Tinsley was arrested after the matter when police discovered several outstanding warrants.
