CHAMPION School board meeting

The board this week:

Approved revisions in the elementary promotion policy though fourth grade: To move on to the next grade, pupils previously needed to score a minimum competency in the 30 percentile in reading and standardized achievement tests. Now they must score a minimum in the 36 percentile.

Recognized ninth-grader Nicole Okerlund and seventh-grader Danielle Joseph for receiving All American Scholar Awards for carrying perfect 4.0 averages.

Recognized Jonathan J. Molinatto, a member of the Class of 1941 and a World War II veteran, whose brother Peter accepted a high school diploma for him.

Accepted the resignation of Doris Cardarelli, who is retiring as middle school cook after 40 years with the district.

Approved a trip by the ski club to Kissing Bridge Ski Resort in New York in February.
