BESSEMER, Pa. -- Mr. and Mrs. Paul Leonard Hardesty of Bessemer were honored Dec. 29 at a family dinner at The Tavern in New Wilmington, Pa., on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the event were the couple's children and their spouses, Edward and Doris Hardesty of Sewickley, Pa.; Robert and Dawn Hardesty of Chesterland; and Debra Wilson of Niles. Nine grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Hardesty and the former Margaret Pearl Hartford were married Dec. 2, 1951, at First Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, Md. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired in 1982 from Bessemer Cement Co. after 42 years of service as a kiln burner. He is a member of the American Legion Post 638.
His wife retired in 1988 after 25 years at Mohawk Junior and Senior High School as a Spanish and English teacher. She belongs to the American Legion Auxiliary 638, Mohawk Homemakers and Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, and is a retired member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association.
The couple are members of Edinburg-Hillsville United Methodist Church in Edinburg, Pa.
