POLICE CALLS Canfield city, Austintown

Summary of police activity:

CANFIELD CITY:

Jan. 7

Shoplifting: A male suspect was caught at Giant Eagle after stealing packages of Afrin and Alka Seltzer.

Jan. 8

Theft: A resident reported a relative living with her is suspected of stealing a diamond ring, $800 in cash and guns. The items had been taken to pawn shops in Austintown and Boardman, though one gun had already been sold.

Drug charges: Charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were brought against two male students at the Mahoning County Technical Center. One student was from Canfield, the other from Berlin Center. The students were also charged with juvenile delinquency.

Jan. 11

Pursuit: A 16-year-old Poland boy was involved in a car pursuit with police on U.S. Route 224 and Cardinal Drive to North Briarcliff, where his vehicle finally ended up crashed into a tree across from the Canfield Swim Club. Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, drug abuse and delinquent juvenile plus traffic violations were brought against him.

AUSTINTOWN TOWNSHIP:

Jan. 6

Criminal damage: Windows on a vehicle were damaged and a female suspect is accused in an incident in the 1000 block of North Niles-Canfield Road.

Criminal damage: A mirror was broken off of a vehicle in the 3000 block of Oakwood Avenue.

Theft: A cell phone was reported stolen at The Mill, 1743 S. Raccoon Road.

Criminal damage: A vehicle was scratched by a key in the 4000 block of Rhode Island Drive.

Theft: A purse was reported stolen at Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Avenue.

Criminal damage: A mailbox was damaged in the front yard of a home in the 3000 block of Warwick Court.

Jan. 7

Theft: $16.50 in gasoline was stolen from Pilot Gas Station at Interstate 80 and state Route 46.

Criminal damage: A house was sprayed with paint in the 5000 block of Vassar Avenue.

Criminal damage: Tires were cut on a vehicle in the parking lot at Howard Johnson's Express, 54125 Clarkins Drive.

Criminal damage: Lawn damage was reported in the 1200 block of Signature Drive.

Jan. 8

Theft: A computer was stolen from St. Anne School, 4310 Kirk Road.

Burglary: Jewelry was stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Harvard Place.

Theft: Fuel and motor oil was taken from the TA Travel Center, 5400 Seventy-Six Drive.

Jan. 9

Theft: Fuel was taken from a vehicle at the TA Truck Center.

Theft: Gasoline was stolen from True North, 3670 S. Meridian Road.

Auto: A 1989 Dodge was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Compass West apartments.

Auto: A 1989 Buick was reported stolen from Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Avenue.

Jan. 10

Theft: A man stole three cartons of cigarettes from Giant Eagle, 5220 Mahoning Avenue.

Theft: A man was arrested for stealing baby formula at Giant Eagle.

Theft: A 1984 Buick was stolen from Steel City, 168 N. Meridian Road.

Arrest: A woman was arrested for receiving stolen property.

Theft: A 17-year-old was arrested for stealing at Ames, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Criminal damage: A vehicle window was broken with cement block in the 4000 block of Westmont Drive.

Attempted theft: The driver's side door lock was pulled on a vehicle at Wedgewood Lanes but nothing was taken.

Theft: A Pioneer compact disc player was taken from a vehicle parked at Wedgewood Lanes.

Theft: A cell phone and miscellaneous tools were taken from Wedgewood Lanes.

Jan. 11

Theft: A window was broken and items were taken from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Riblet Road.

Theft: A rock was used to break a window of a vehicle and a purse was taken at Cracker Barrel, 5600 Interstate Blvd.

Weapons offense: A juvenile was arrested for possession of a BB gun at Austintown Middle School, 5800 Mahoning Avenue.

Theft: A purse was taken from a shopping cart at Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Avenue.

Theft: Diesel fuel was stolen at Pilot gas station, 1150 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Drug offense: A man was arrested on a drug offense on Moorefield Avenue.

Jan. 12

Criminal damage: A vehicle window was damaged at Wal-Mart.

Theft: A cell phone was stolen from Card Transmission, 80 Victoria Road.

Theft: A cell phone was stolen from Babylon, 114 Javit Court.

Theft: A cell phone was reported stolen from a home in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Criminal damage: A vehicle window and truck bed were damaged in the 4000 block of Patricia Avenue.

Burglary: Credit cards were reported stolen from a residence in the 5000 block of Cider Mill Run.

Jan. 13

Theft: A 1987 Red Buick LeSabre was reported stolen from 1700 block of South Raccoon Road.
