The burglary of a Hermitage department store is the focus of Mercer County Crime Solvers this week:
Crime: Burglary and theft.Location: Kaufmann's Department Store, Shenango Valley Mall, Hermitage.Details: Police said burglars used a cement block to smash through a glass door on the west side of the store around 10:20 p.m. Monday. Once inside, the intruders smashed open several jewelry cases, making off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry as well as some neckties taken from a display rack near the smashed door. A car stolen from a nearby car dealership was found abandoned in the parking lot with some of the stolen merchandise inside.Contact: Call Crime Solvers between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at (724) 347-HELP. Callers do not have to give their names.Reward: Crime Solvers, a nonprofit organization, offers cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of anyone responsible for a serious crime in Mercer County.
