Butler, Hanover trustees to raise cemetery fees

HANOVERTON -- The trustees of Hanover and Butler townships voted to increase fees at Woodsdale Cemetery.
Opening and closing of adult graves will increase from $300 to $350. On weekends or holidays, the cost has been increased from $375 to $400.
The cemetery is in Hanover Township and operated jointly by both townships.
Hanover trustee Donald Wilson will serve as chairman of the board and Butler Trustee Tom Sanor will serve as vice-chairman. Butler Townhip Clerk Marilyn Winn will return as secretary of the cemetery board.
Winn noted the fee increases were the first in at least ten years.
Residents of either township may buy sites in section 3 of the cemetery for $250; nonresidents may buy sites for $400. In section 4, the newer part of the cemetery, residents will pay $350 per site; nonresidents will pay $500.
The trustees voted to retain Andrew Stoudt as sexton and Terri Hillyer for mowing.
