CAMPBELL Council to interview applicants for vacancy

Council has 30 days to appoint a new member.
CAMPBELL -- Four people have applied so far to replace Steve Sferra, who resigned Dec. 26, citing personal reasons after less than a month as 1st Ward councilman.
Council is taking applications until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The four are Sferra's wife, Lois; former Councilman Jerry Rudiak; former school board member Mike Tsikouris; and Joseph Mico.
After council accepted Sferra's resignation Wednesday, council President Robert P. Yankle said council will interview the applicants for 10 minutes each during a caucus beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Council has 30 days to appoint a replacement. If it doesn't meet that deadline, Mayor John Dill will make the appointment.
