AUSTINTOWN -- Two men robbed Antone's restaurant on Mahoning Avenue on Wednesday night while threatening restaurant employees with handguns. The men escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The men are described as black, about 6 feet tall, and weighing about 160 or 170 pounds. One man wore a black leather jacket; the other wore a dark hooded sweat shirt that covered his face.
Two restaurant employees told police they noticed the men hiding behind a transformer in the restaurant's rear parking lot around 10 p.m. The restaurant manager went with the two employees and another restaurant worker into the parking lot to investigate.
The men then stood up and pointed handguns at the employees. One of the men pointed a gun at the manager's head and demanded the money.
The manager gave the men the night deposit bag. Meanwhile, one of the employees escaped and went to the Lodge restaurant next door to call 911.
The men demanded more money, and the manager gave them cash from the safe and the registers. The men fled after ordering the employees to get under booths in the restaurant dining room.
Police found footprints in the snow heading southwest. A K-9 officer could not locate the men.
