SCHOOL OPERATIONS In the event of a strike

Published: Tue, January 1, 2002 @ 12:00 a.m.

A teachers strike is pending Jan. 22 if a tentative contract is not reached by Jan. 21. This information is about school operations during a strike:

Schools will remain open, even on the first strike day, with a private company furnishing certified teachers and security guards.

School buses will continue to pick up and drop off pupils, cafeteria will remain open.

Pupil absences will be handled as advised by the student handbook. Missed classes and grade changes could result in the loss of scholarships and the naming of honor roll, valedictorian and salutatorian students.

Student athletics will not be played or rescheduled during the strike, unless a school misses fewer than three contests in volleyball, basketball, baseball or softball.
