Boardman standout

Boardman High sophomore Amber Bland is one of the top basketball players in the area, and last spring she won the Division I state high jump championship in track and field as a freshman. She is profiled on Page C5.

Back from the dead

The Minnesota Twins put an ugly off-season behind them with a resounding start to exhibition play. After nearly being eliminated by contraction, the Twins scored two runs in their first at-bat Wednesday and beat the Cincinnati Reds 13-0 in the first major league spring training game of the year. Decision may be due

As Michael Jordan recovers from the first surgery of his career, he ponders this: should he rush back to help save the Wizards' season, or take his time and make sure he can play next year? Jordan had torn cartilage repaired in his right knee Wednesday, a procedure that typically requires 2-to-6 weeks of rehabilitation. If Jordan takes four weeks to recover, he would miss 16 games, including the entire six-game road trip in mid-March that could make or break the Wizards' season. More NBA, Page C4.
